Edigar Junio leaves Marinos for good

It was finalised on 29 December that Edigar Junio, the Yokohama F.Marinos forward who had been on loan with V-Varen Nagasaki, is joining the J2 side on a full transfer.

The 29-year-old Brazilian arrived at Yokohama from Bahia in 2019 and made an instant impact, recording 11 goals in 16 J1 matches. However, a long-term injury forced him out of the team in the second half of the club’s title-winning campaign. He recovered for the 2020 season and managed three goals in 16 J1 appearances.

The arrival of Junior Santos from Kashiwa Reysol in August 2020 effectively put him out of favour, and a temporary transfer to promotion-chasing V-Varen ensued. While V-Varen failed to achieve their goal, missing by four points, Junio’s five goals in 11 games was enough to earn him an extended stay with the club.
