Shimizu S-Pulse have landed the signing of Thiago Santana from Primeira Liga side from Santa Clara, the J1 club made the announcement on 26 December.
The 27-year-old Brazilian forward moved to Europe to play for Vitoria in 2016, before landing at Santa Clara the following year. He is currently the joint second highest scorer in Portugual’s top flight with seven goals from nine appearances. The contract will be formalised once his medical is done.
At the same time, the club also renewed the contracts of their three Brazilian players Valdo, Carlinhos Junior and Renato Augusto.
S-Pulse began the 2020 season under Peter Cklamovski, but replaced the Australian on 1 November following abysmal league performances. The club recovered under Hiroaki Hiraoka and eventually finished 16th. Miguel Angel Lotina, who recently announced his departure from Cerezo Osaka, will take over the managerial reins next season.
