The eight teams that will take part in the Prime Stage of the Levain Cup were confirmed on 12 August.
The four group winners of Kawasaki Frontale (Grp A), Cerezo Osaka (Grp B), Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo (Grp C) and Kashiwa Reysol (Grp D), along with best second team Nagoya Grampus (Grp A), will join AFC Champions League teams Yokohama F.Marinos, Vissel Kobe and FC Tokyo in the knockout round.
The competition format for the 2020 Levain Cup was revised following fixture disruption impacted by COVID-19.
