J1: Urawa win Consadole in seven-goal thriller

Urawa Red Diamonds condemned Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo to their third straight defeat by staging a late come-from-behind win on matchday 16.

Kenyu Sugimoto put Urawa Reds two goals up by the 20th minute, before Jay Bothroyd replied in kind with two headers to level the contest at half time. Consadole then took the lead for the first time when Sugimoto inadvertently turned the ball into his own net in the 67th minute. However, Urawa stormed back into the game with the equaliser from Tomoaki Makino. And in the fourth minute of stoppage time, substitute Kai Shibato sank the hearts of Consadole defenders by stabbing in the match winner.

After a promising start to the season, Consadole are now win-less in nine, and have gathered only two points from a possible 21 under Mihailo Petrovic. They travel to face Sagan Tosu next on 16 September.
