Suzuki makes Belgium football debut

Musashi Suzuki clocked his first competitive outing for Beerschot, appearing as a second half substitute in the 0-3 loss to Standard Liege on matchday 4 of Jupiler Pro League.

The Japan international forward made the bench for the first time since his move from Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo on 18 August, and was introduced right after Standard Liege doubled their lead in the 76th minute.

His first attempt in the 81st minute, a right-footed shot from distance, was saved by the goalkeeper. And when the ball was played back to him, he zeroed in on his target with his other foot, only to see his debut goal denied by the post.

The opposition went on to seal the win with their third goal and compounded the newly promoted Beerschot to their first defeat of the season.

A visit from Genk & countryman Junya Ito on 14 September will be next.
