Shunsuke Nakamura joins Yokohama FC

Former Japan international Shunsuke Nakamura is transferring from Jubilo Iwata to J2 side Yokohama FC, as announced by both clubs on 11 July.

The 41-year-old veteran started his professional career with Yokohama Marinos in 1997, before moving abroad to play for Reggina, Celtic and Espanyol. He returned to Japan in 2010 with Yokohama F.Marinos and then to Iwata in 2017. He played two league games this season, for a total of 386 J1 appearances.

Nakamura, who will join 52-year-old Kazuyoshi Miura and Daisuke Matsui, left a message on the Yokohama’s website, “I will be coming to Yokohama FC. I will use my years of experience to try to win as many matches as possible for the club and supporters. Thank you.”
